It’s hard to believe we’re half way through 2023! Here at our Design Studio we’ve been busy scheming and designing new spaces throughout our hotels and residential projects. There are so many wonderful fabrics out there and we thought it was about time we share some of our favourite finds with you. Here’s what we’re scheming with…

Schumacher: Aravali Patchwork

This is a beautiful geometric patchwork inspired by the saturated colour and symbols associated with Berber rugs. The fabric is a textured woven stripe adding depth. Delicate embroidery can be seen throughout the design, highlighting a sense of craftsmanship that we admire so much. We have recently schemed with this fabric to go on a headboard and on some sofas around our hotels. We can’t wait to share how these turn out with you! fschumacher.co.uk

Pierre Frey: Roselia Fabric

It is no secret that we’re huge fans of Pierre Frey. Their woollen embroideries are always full of movement and colour. Here is their ‘Roselia’ design, which is a floral motif, hand embroidered on a luxurious linen backcloth. It dates back to the beginning of the 18th century and has been preserved in the archives of the Maison Pierre Frey. We love the bold use of colour, giving it a more contemporary feel. pierrefrey.com

Jane Churchill: Shiloh Indigo Fabric

Shiloh by Jane Churchill is a digitally printed fabric that has so much movement and texture. This is due to the irregular watercolour sponge effect background and the repetition of many delicate, contrasting crisp white lines. We have always loved designs that are printed on a twill ground cloth – this adds depth and works brilliantly for upholstery or drapery. janechurchill.com

In room 102 at Covent Garden Hotel, we recently used this fabric to upholster the sofa in this Deluxe Junior Suite.

Chelsea Textiles: Toile de Joie

We instantly fell in love with ‘Toile de Joie’ wallpaper by Chelsea Textiles and now we can enjoy a larger scale fabric of the design which has recently launched. Designed by Ramiro Fernández Saus, the fabric is full of whimsical magic with imaginative characters, animals and locations popping up through abundant undulating vines. Available in four colourways, this fabric’s charm is truly infectious! chelseatextiles.com

William Yeoward: Lechlade

This fabric by William Yeoward feels like it has been taken directly from a page in an artist’s sketchbook. We love the painterly lines and scale of the undulating pomegranate vines. It was inspired by a visit to Kelmscott Manor which was the country retreat of William Morris, the father of the Arts and Crafts Movement. williamyeoward.com
