Barbie Pink Paint Panic!

Day to Day

To celebrate the recent release of Barbie, we'd like to share some of our schemes that incorporate pink...

We have recently read in Architectural Digest magazine that director Greta Gerwig’s ‘Barbie’ film required so much pink paint for the set, it wiped out an entire company’s global supply. “The world ran out of pink!” Greta told the magazine.

On September 24th at The Soho Hotel, our Fashion & Cinema series welcomes costume designer Jacqueline Durran and production Sarah Greenwood who have both worked together on Barbie. We’re looking forward to hearing some of the ways in which Jacqueline and Sarah showcased diversity and inclusivity through costume and design and hope you can join us. Find more information here.

To celebrate the recent release of Barbie, we’d like to share some of our schemes that incorporate pink…

In The Whitby Hotel’s Whitby Suite, we have paired hot pink walls with bold yellow Pierre Frey curtains and our ‘Daisy Chain’ fabric on the headboard.

As you enter room 201 at Number Sixteen a curvaceous headboard takes centre stage. Upholstered in gloriously pink fabric, the hand printed textile exudes joy with its large scale paisley. Explore this space further here.

In this home bedroom, we have covered the walls in a dusky pink linen, creating a warm and inviting atmosphere. This is paired with our ‘Ashenwood’ design in the Spring colourway for Chelsea Textiles. Its blue tones bring a sense of balance to this space.

Rossferry in Barbados brings an explosion of colour. As you enter the drawing room, raspberry pink tones illuminate the space. The textured coralstone walls provide a calm backdrop for a mix of colourful furniture and textiles. We love the fun, floral fabric that adorns the armchairs.

Despite the paint shortages, we definitely don’t lack pink in our schemes!

Soane’s ‘Indian Parrots’ on the oversized headboard was the starting point for this bedroom scheme at Crosby Street Hotel. The design is traditional but as soon as it’s paired with the fresh horizontal striped curtains and the quilted ikat textile on the stool and chair, the space immediately feels calm, vibrant and modern. It is one of our favourite rooms!
