Room 201 at Number Sixteen

We are over the moon that Number Sixteen has reopened. To mark the occasion, we thought we would celebrate one of our most colourful and joyful schemes – Room 201.

As you enter Room 201 you are immediately transported to somewhere hot and sunny, making you feel like you are bathing in the warm light of the Caribbean sun.

The bedroom looks over the leafy streets and white stucco terraced houses of Sumner Place, situated just moments from the heart of lively South Kensington.

This room is filled with natural light and is dressed head to toe in the warmest colour combination – indian pinks and golden yellows. The walls have been upholstered in a yellow linen by Casamance, which also follows through into the curtains. We often do this, especially in smaller bedrooms, as it creates a cosseting feel and gives the room a cosy setting.

Down the leading edge of the curtains, we have used Kit Kemp’s ‘Peace & Love’ design for Christopher Farr Cloth in the hot pink colourway, which gives the curtains a tailored finish.

‘Peace & Love’ has been repeated on the desk chair and we have used a butterflied yellow leather to pipe the handle.

The two tub chairs have been covered in a weave called Delphini by Andrew Martin. It is one of our favourite upholstery fabrics – it holds all the tones of a juicy red berry!

Again, we have piped the tub chairs in the butterflied yellow leather and have included nickel studding around the outside to add a contemporary finish.

The curvaceous shaped headboard takes centre stage, upholstered in the glorious ‘Bombay’ fabric by Raoul. This hand printed textile exudes joy with its large scale paisley print in fuchsia pinks and happy yellow saffron tones.

We love the individual plants and flowers inside each paisley print, we could stare at it all day.

For the bed cushions we have used another Kit Kemp for Christopher Farr design called ‘Inside Out’ in lemon.

Either side of the bed cushion, we have added a Rick Rack trim in hot pink by Samuel and Sons. It is a lovely little detail that is fun and playful, and it pairs perfectly with the Bombay headboard fabric.

Beside the bed, we have strategically hung one of our Indian silver mirrors. As it sits next to the window, it playfully bounces light around the room, helping the space feel even brighter.

We hope this bedroom brings you as much happiness and joy as it does for us.

Number Sixteen is officially open, so book yourself a stay or pop in for a delicious cocktail, Afternoon Tea or long lunch in our beautiful garden.
