Room 302 at Charlotte Street Hotel

This is room 302 at Charlotte Street Hotel. A space where you feel instantly removed from the hustle and bustle of the nearby London streets, with interiors that evoke an impression of the English countryside.

We love to explore the many different ways a design can be purposed, so you might recognise the headboard’s floral design which serves as wallpaper in Suite 205 at Crosby Street Hotel. This design captures the feeling of spring, even on the darkest of days!

To create a contemporary finish, we’ve applied leather piping to the border of the headboard and to a curvaceous end of bed stool which is upholstered in a thick cobalt weave. With matching piping, these two pieces are unified.

We have accented lime greens further by including a modern trim to the leading edge of the curtains which are made with a soft blue linen. The same fabric adorns the walls, giving the room a soothing sense of cosiness.

On the bed you’ll find Rain Shadow Green Leaf cushions designed by Kit Kemp for Fine Cell Work. Inspired by the reflection of the sun’s rays on rain soaked leaves, the cushions’ embroidered yellow, green and cobalt blue tones make a fitting tribute to the scheme.

We love textiles that introduce a sense of character to a space and room 302 is a great example of this. The desk chair has been upholstered using a combination of two fabrics: Kit Kemp’s ‘Peace and Love’ design for Christopher Farr Cloth and a wool in a vintage green for the seat.

Opposite the bed are large armchairs which have also been upholstered in a combination of two different fabrics: Kit Kemp’s Royal Snail fabric for Christopher Farr Cloth has been used on the sides of the armchairs, whilst the seats and backrests boast a bold blue linen. These colours draw out the sharp blues seen in the floral prints and are another example of how we have used colours to create a harmonious balance.

We love this peaceful room and hope it inspires you to try these simple but effective design tricks to create a relaxing space.
