Nestled within Charlotte Street Hotel, Oscar Bar & Restaurant exudes a vibrant ambiance, renowned for its lively atmosphere and open-plan kitchen. Located on the ground floor, the bar boasts an outdoor terrace for alfresco dining, while the restaurant serves fresh, seasonal cuisine and an ever-evolving cocktail menu. On today’s blog, we invite you to discover the newly refreshed restaurant & bar space.

Stepping inside, guests are greeted by a vibrant mix of colours and contemporary art, highlighted by a striking mural painted by London-born artist Alexander Hollweg, which spans three sides of the room – an arresting centrepiece that captures the essence of contemporary London life while paying homage to The Bloomsbury Group.

Banquette seating, adorned in Pierre Frey weaves, complements the hues of Hollweg’s masterpiece, while our unique ‘Handle’ chair design, upholstered in a combination of materials inspired by the mural, adds both style and functionality to the dining experience. Nickel studding adds a touch of contemporary flair to these bespoke pieces.

As you enter, a cosy seating area on the left beckons guests to relax with a morning coffee or signature cocktails in the evening, featuring an array of plush sofas, slipper chairs, tub chairs and cube stools, all upholstered in a timeless stripe by Madeaux, lending a smart and unified aesthetic to the space.

For the curtains, we have used ‘Tapestry Flower’ by Designers Guild, along with matching sofa cushions, to infuse the room with a painterly elegance, staying true to the Bloomsbury theme throughout the hotel.

Adding to the warm ambiance, are clusters of old wine bottle pendant lights, casting a soft glow over the surroundings. Keeping watch over the bar is a large stone bust of King Edward VII, who was known to love drinking and socialising! So don’t forget to cheers the King whilst you enjoy your cocktails.

During the summer months, the bar spills out onto bustling Charlotte Street, evoking a Parisian café vibe, complete with live music from local DJs every Friday night. You can also enjoy an Afternoon Tea with a Twist paired with seasonal cocktails or mocktails.
