Topping out ceremonies are a time-honoured tradition held when the last beam of a structure or the roof of a building is put into place. It’s a very exciting time for Firmdale Hotels as last week we topped out our upcoming hotel at Warren Street in Tribeca, New York.

Various members of our team proudly gathered together to enjoy the almighty view.

This is a moment we’ve been waiting for as we have watched the building grow from the ground up. A member of the construction crew sang the national anthem as the American flag waved from the roof of the hotel, and then we put on our hard hats and took our first steps inside.

Warren Street Hotel is situated between West Broadway and Greenwich streets, in the heart of Tribeca. This neighbourhood has so much to offer and is steeped in history. Just one block east you will find City Hall Park, where visitors can explore gorgeous historic buildings or take a stroll across the Brooklyn Bridge. The Tribeca neighbourhood was originally Dutch settlers’ farmland and soon became a residential area in the nineteenth century. Today, Tribeca is known for hosting the Tribeca Film Festival, which pays homage to the strength and resilience America is known for.

It was truly spectacular to see the foundations of the hotel. We were particularly inspired by the bones of the future Meadow Suite and its outdoor courtyard. The 57 guest rooms and 12 residential spaces to come have us cooking lots of design ideas back at the studio!

After we had explored each of the 11 floors, we all gathered on the 4th floor to enjoy lunch as a community.

The views of the World Trade Center and the Hudson River were magnificent. We cannot wait to enjoy them from the comfort and luxury of a Firmdale bedroom.
