The Suffolk Suite at Haymarket Hotel

Haymarket Hotel was designed by the legendary Regency architect, John Nash, which means we’re very lucky to work with these beautifully proportioned rooms. In the Suffolk Suite we wanted to create a scheme which celebrates colour and texture.

The striking blue of the Scandinavian chest and mirror was the starting point for this room, with lively blues appearing throughout the scheme.

In the Drawing Room, the sofa is upholstered in C & C Milano’s ‘Palea Rigato’ with a bold red trim. The rich blues on the sofa are reflected on a vintage armchair covered in my indigo ‘Criss Cross’ fabric for Christopher Farr.

We used Martyn Lawrence Bullard’s ‘Marrakesh’ fabric on the tub chairs and cushions, complemented with a mossy green fabric and red leather piping. The stone urn lamp bases bring an earthy texture in to the scheme, paired with gathered lampshades in Fermoie’s red ‘Wicker’ linen.

In the bedroom, the beautifully intricate yet modern needlepoint artworks by Colin Millington introduce stitched and embroidered textures into the scheme. Colin is a retired sailor living by the sea on the Norfolk coast, we love the way his designs capture maritime scenes in such a wonderfully naïve way, with little concern for scale.

These woolwork illustrations are complemented by the chunky fabric by Pierre Frey on the headboard. The colours sit beautifully alongside the embroidered Mulberry Home on our signature mannequin and curtains, alongside the more graphic block printed Galbraith & Paul linen on the bed cushions and desk chair. The walls are lined in Blithfield & Co’s Mali linen. The clean pattern paired with a crisp navy and oatmeal palette makes whole room feel fresh and vibrant!
