Room 106 at Number Sixteen Hotel is a warm and welcoming bedroom that captures the character of South Kensington. Overlooking the leafy surroundings of Sumner Place, it feels particularly inviting as London settles into autumn, with rich colours, tactile fabrics and carefully layered details creating a comforting retreat. It is a room that invites you to slow down and appreciate the beauty of thoughtful design.
At the heart of the room is a striking Flora headboard upholstered in Ranch Sand by Andrew Martin. Its woven geometric pattern brings structure to the scheme, while the soft, sandy tones create a sense of calm. Framed by tall windows, the bed becomes a natural focal point, balancing simplicity with craftsmanship. The rhythmic pattern introduces another layer of interest, while the restrained palette ensures the overall scheme feels harmonious. It is this considered balance of scale, texture and colour that gives the room its distinctive character.
The same fabric is carried through to the end of bed stool, handle chair and bed cushions, creating a cohesive scheme that brings the pattern together across the room. This thoughtful repetition of texture and colour gives the space its distinctive character while maintaining a harmonious feel.
The walls are wrapped in our Harlequin fabric, designed for Rosebank. Rich earthy reds, soft browns, warm golds and touches of muted blue create an enveloping backdrop that feels both artistic and relaxed. With its tapestry-like quality, the design introduces movement and depth while retaining a sense of softness.
The curtains are made in our Kit’s Linen in Parchment and finished with Caravanne Border Trim, framing the French windows beautifully and drawing the eye towards the leafy view beyond.
The artwork has been chosen with equal care, featuring fragments of vintage sheet music alongside references to Mozart, Beethoven and Mendelssohn. Like the room itself, it brings together history and craftsmanship with a touch of playful irreverence.
With its balance of pattern, texture and colour, Room 106 shows how thoughtful fabric choices and carefully considered details can bring a bedroom together.
