Sleeping Around

Step inside Room 100 at Haymarket Hotel...

There is something wonderfully uplifting about stepping into a room enveloped in colour. Room 100 at Haymarket Hotel does just that, bringing together rich pattern, painterly colour and beautifully crafted details to create a bedroom that feels both joyful and cocooning.

The starting point for this terrace suite is the room’s soft, wavy blue walls, which wrap the space in a calm, almost powdery backdrop. Against this, warm coral, raspberry and terracotta tones come to life. The bed takes centre stage, with its generously proportioned headboard upholstered in a bold botanical embroidered fabric by Pierre Frey and framed by a romantic half tester. It brings a lovely sense of theatre to the room, while crisp white bed linen and a scalloped coverlet keep everything feeling light and fresh.

For the curtains, we wanted to balance the traditional florals with something more contemporary and geometric, using our Time Teller fabric in the Berry with Christopher Farr. Bringing these contrasting patterns together creates a look that feels striking and considered, while their shared tones allow them to sit comfortably alongside one another.

We also applied Time Teller below the dado, wrapping it around the room to give the space a sense of grounding. In a room with such wonderfully tall proportions, it creates an almost earth-and-sky effect, anchoring the furniture below while allowing the blue above to emphasise the height and airiness of the room.

A tightly striped end-of-bed stool introduces another change of rhythm, with stripes reappearing in bolder form across the sofa and cushions in the sitting area. Comfortable armchairs create a welcoming place to settle in with a book or a drink, while sunlight pours through the generous glass doors leading onto a private terrace.

Throughout the room, there are little details to discover. A Kemp Desk, with lampshades covered in our Wriggle Room fabric with GP & J Baker, is a reminder that every detail matters. Florals sit happily alongside stripes, strong colour is tempered by quieter blues, and contemporary pieces mingle with furniture that feels as though it could have been collected over time.

It is a room designed to be lived in, somewhere to unpack, put your feet up and make yourself completely at home in the heart of London.
