Welcome to Rooms 006 and 007 at Knightsbridge Hotel. Layered with colour, pattern and unexpected details, these interconnecting rooms reveal a thoughtful balance of calm and character. Perfect for families, they also showcase two distinct ways to decorate with blue, demonstrating how blue can create spaces that feel both restful and full of personality.
As you enter Room 007, your eye is immediately drawn to the generous headboard, upholstered in a traditional cross stitch design with matching cushions adding to the layered feel. A navy border frames the headboard, helping to define it as the focal point of the room, while fuchsia pink piping adds a playful touch of colour and detail.
On the opposite side of the room sits a new bespoke bookcase, painted in the same shade of blue as the fabric-lined walls. Surrounding the television with bookshelves helps to draw attention away from the black screen, creating a more inviting focal point. It is the kind of detail that encourages you to pull up a chair, choose a book and settle in for the afternoon.
At the foot of the bed sits a deep indigo sofa, upholstered in our Diego fabric for Andrew Martin. Its rich colour grounds the room, balancing the softer tones and patterns used throughout, while the colourful zigzag and geometric motifs add a subtle sense of energy. By the window, two Min Tub Chairs, also upholstered in Diego, offer guests a place to sit and enjoy views over one of Knightsbridge’s leafy streets. The same pink piping has been used throughout the upholstery, helping to tie the different pieces together and create a sense of cohesion.
For the curtains, we used Backdrop, an embroidered striped fabric we designed for GP & J Baker. Its playful design introduces another layer of pattern to the scheme without overwhelming the space. The mannequin has been upholstered in a mix of fabrics found throughout the room, creating a playful connection between the different patterns and textures. Set against the artwork’s riot of colour, it becomes another unexpected and characterful detail within the space.
Room 007 can also be connected to the newly refurbished Room 006, allowing families to move easily between the two rooms while still having the option to close them off when desired.
Opening the secret door to the next room feels like discovering an unexpected new world. Room 006 is wrapped in our fabric, Harlequin for Hazleton House, an energetic mix of tonal patterns that stretches across the walls to create a space that feels immersive and playful.
The Ellie headboard is upholstered in Hearty, one of our fabrics we designed for Andrew Martin. Its rhythmic pattern of hearts and tulips adds a gentle sense of movement and a storybook charm to the space.
Its softly drawn stripe picks up the colours woven throughout the scheme.
While each room has its own character, Rooms 006 and 007 were designed to sit comfortably alongside one another. Their blue palettes naturally complement each other, with layers of rich indigo running through both spaces to ground the schemes, while pops of hot pink create a sense of flow as you move between them.
Together, the layers of colour, pattern and texture give Rooms 006 and 007 their own distinct character: inviting, playful and full of unexpected details. Spaces designed to feel both wonderfully considered and effortlessly exciting.
