On today’s blog, join us as we explore Suite 1107 at Crosby Street Hotel, diving into the inspiration and design elements that make this space truly unique. From the moment you step through the doors, you are embraced by beautiful natural light and panoramic views of SoHo, Manhattan. The interior design is a harmonious blend of nature’s elegance and urban sophistication, creating a serene and character-filled retreat.
The drawing room and bedroom feature ‘Szepvis Stripe’ by Mind the Gap, which brings a subtle touch of nature to the walls with its green hues, balancing tranquility and sophistication.
Nature’s presence continues throughout the suite, with nods to water and the sea. The chandelier above the dining table mimics cascading raindrops with its delicate transparent teardrop tiers, while William Yeoward’s textured fabric, reminiscent of nautical ropes, adorns the curtains.
Above the fireplace hangs a charming painting of a man enjoying his garden and at the heart of the seating area lies the ‘Ladycross’ rug from our Annie Selke collection—a vibrant interpretation of a forest treescape, inspired by the enchanting New Forest.
The upholstery throughout the space is rich in texture, colour and character. For the sofas and dining chairs, we used fabrics from our GP & J Baker collection – ‘Worlds Apart’ and ‘Bunty’. These sturdy weaves not only offer durability but also enhance the room’s depth with intricate detailing and stitching.
One of my favourite features is the playful ‘Whitby’ chairs, crafted with a trio of fabrics: ‘Zold’ geometric by Mind the Gap for the back, a vibrant ikat for the seat, and bold yellow piping to tie it all together—a perfect balance of fun and elegance.
Special pieces in the drawing room include a stunning hand-painted Swedish cabinet and a one-of-a-kind head vase, complete with cascading ivy hair.
In the bedroom, the Sam headboard steals the spotlight, upholstered in Mind the Gap’s ‘Erdely’ ikat fabric, showcasing warm tones of red, orange and yellow. The geometric ‘Zold’ fabric reappears on the end-of-bed stool and desk chair, while Pierre Frey’s textured fabric adds a touch of luxury to the bedroom chair and window cushions.
Janet Haigh’s evocative artwork graces the bedroom walls, celebrating the stories of influential female craftspeople, authors and artists. One of her pieces features Clarice Cliff, the renowned 20th-century ceramicist, with vibrant colours and patterns that reflect Cliff’s bold artistic style.
We hope you’ve enjoyed this glimpse into the design journey of Suite 1107 at Crosby Street Hotel!
