The Richmond Suite at The Soho Hotel

Welcome to the Richmond Suite at The Soho Hotel. As the door opens into the drawing room, you’re greeted by a warm, luminous orange glow on the walls, adorned with our ‘Songbird’ wallpaper in the ‘sunset’ colourway, designed in collaboration with Andrew Martin. The design embraces the stylised nature of Chinoiserie but is softened with an English twist, featuring graceful songbirds calling to each other across the panorama. Nestled just off Dean Street in the heart of Soho, this vibrant colour scheme mirrors the area’s energetic spirit.

To balance the lively walls, we’ve opted for neutral textured wool plains and the spacey ‘Worlds Apart’ wide-width stripe on the sofas, lending a tailored and sophisticated look to the drawing room. Modern touches include organic papier-mâché artworks, flashes of zingy green on the fireside chests, and a green ‘Bow’ lamp on the 20th-century oak antique desk, creating a harmonious juxtaposition.

What truly elevates this suite are the intricate details. We had great fun incorporating exclusive elements, from hand-painted disk lamps that blend seamlessly into the scheme to fun trims and a nifty pocket on the armchair.

The Italian 19th-century painted fall-front bureau bookcase was also handpicked, adding to the suite’s unique personality.

In the bedroom, the focal point is the beautiful appliqué headboard and cushions, featuring nature-inspired artistry that adds romance and elegance. This design gently echoes the flora and fauna of the wallpaper, creating a cohesive connection between the drawing room and bedroom.

A closer look reveals the meticulous attention to detail, with hand-dyed fabrics ensuring tonal harmony. Flashes of orange, resembling bright pollen, add vibrancy. ‘Kit’s Linen’ in clementine on the bedroom walls mimics a sunset, creating a symphony of colour to lull you to sleep.

Both rooms are finished with fresh warm white curtains that calm the scheme and vibrant colours. The animated painterly leading edge, made from our ‘Wriggle Room’ fabric in Teal/Spice, completes the look with just the spicy-coloured part of the fabric.
