Brumus Bar & Restaurant

Sleeping Around

Welcome to Brumus Bar & Restaurant at Haymarket Hotel...

Nestled in the heart of London’s bustling West End, Brumus Bar & Restaurant at Haymarket Hotel offers the perfect blend of elegance and energetic charm. Whether you’re a local seeking a chic spot for after-work drinks or a theatre-goer looking to soak up London’s pre-show vibes, Brumus is designed with comfort and liveliness in mind. Today, we are taking a closer look at this vibrant space.

Brumus is named after one of Kit’s cherished dogs. As a tribute to the spaniel, a hand-drawn portrait by Willow Kemp is displayed proudly in the bar, with the frame constructed from the tins of the pup’s favourite dog food. Appliqué dog outlines grace the backs of the bar stools, further nodding to the bar’s namesake.

Punchy coloured velvet sofas set the stage for weekly jazz bands to serenade the guests, featuring a scheme of hot pinks, brilliant blues, and vivid orange. Opposite sit slipper chairs with a sturdy orange weave and orange leather tops.

Peak a pop of our ‘Busy Lizzy’ fabric with Christopher Farr on the side panel of the slipper chairs running the centre of the bar area. The walls, draped in two-tone Indian pink linen, create a warm and cosy interior.

Designing the space meant navigating around several large columns, which can be a daunting task. We fully embraced this feature by dressing the columns in one of our beloved fabrics, ‘Ozone’ with Christopher Farr. The fabric is also seen in the back panel of the ‘Susan’ chair for an extra thread of continuity.

Hanging at mid-length, the embroidered curtains with burnt orange thread detailing offer privacy from the bustling streets while still allowing light to filter into the bar. In the evening, they are drawn closed to create a cosy intimacy.

A variety of seating is key when designing a bar to create different zones and flexible seating arrangements. The banquette seating offers casual spots for leisurely lunches or intimate dinners. Dressed in our new weave in collaboration with GP & J Baker, the colourful ‘Wild One’ in the colourway ‘Jewel’ subtly reflects the colour scheme, grounding the space.
