Step inside Residence 24 at Ham Yard Hotel, one of our newly designed residences. Decorated with warm, sunny hues, it’s a cosy and inviting space spread across two floors with striking rooftop views across the city.
The starting point for this scheme was a fabric by a textile designer called Beki Bright. We came across her work last year and instantly starting thinking up new room schemes to use it in. The design is called The Plough and is an abstract take on her Grandad’s thatched Suffolk farmhouse, set in rolling fields amongst a timeless landscape. We used this fabric to upholster two handsome Chesterfield sofas.
In the opposite corner of the room we designed a corner banquette. Here guests can work or dine by the light of large floor to ceiling windows. A stone pendant light hangs by a rope above this antique table and a collection of prints by Breon O’Casey hang on the wall behind.
Continuing through the residence, head down a wide corridor and you’ll find the kitchen.
Adorning the walls is an all-time favourite fabric of ours: Wave by Fermoie. With a pattern of flowing brushstrokes it lends depth and texture to the room.
Either side of the fireplace we built and installed bookshelves which have antique mirror backing and concealed LED strip lights. These give off a wonderful warm glow in the evening. In the corner of the room is a lovely piano which is so heavy we had to crane it in! Above this piano hangs a rustic hand carved mirror, which bounces natural light around the room, especially in this darker nook.
Double doors open out onto a roomy terrace with a dining table and two sun loungers. Whether having dinner on a balmy summer’s evening or reading the morning papers with a coffee, it’s a wonderfully secluded spot that offers panoramic views of the city!
An antique table sits on our Eternal Spring rug and is surrounded by six Handle Chairs upholstered in a combination of Peace and Love and bright orange leather – they really pop!
The master bedroom and bathroom are on the level below, accessed via an impressive spiral staircase. This scheme showcases a beautiful balance of warm and cool tones. The headboard and curtains are in our Chainstitch fabric and we found a lovely chalky blue linen to upholster the walls in. Taken from one of the blue tones found in Chainstitch, it creates a cooling influence that ensures the space is as calm as it is vibrant.
A second bedroom and ensuite bathroom can be found upstairs and features a scheme of cornflower blues and russet reds. Our Psycho Sprig fabric in blue adorns the windows and its dancing floral motifs have been used to create a striking applique headboard design that adds texture and delight to this light-filled space.
