Room 101 at Covent Garden Hotel

Sleeping Around

We explore room 101 at Covent Garden Hotel which evokes the atmosphere of a crisp autumnal morning...

As autumn arrives, it’s fitting to think about oranges, mauves and warm shades of red. Room 101 at Covent Garden Hotel compliments a crisp autumn morning, with wallpaper that imitates plank panelling. This is a brilliantly effective way to give texture to your walls.

The headboard brings warmth and with intricate textures and embroidery, it evokes intrigue. We’ve used the same fabric for the mannequin and sofa cushions, which leads the eye around the room and creates a sense of harmony. Geometric patterns are a timeless choice and we love to combine them with floral and other patterns as seen here.

Special pieces complete the space, like the bamboo side tables and a spectacular rug I found on my travels. Unique to the room they create a layering effect that brings depth and character. Of course, we can’t ignore the stunning art piece by Graham Fransella. It acts as a centrepiece in the sitting area and gives gravitas.

Shades of blue from the curtains compliment the cooler wall tone and for the sofa, I’ve used my ‘Bookend’ design on wool to bring an extra touch of cosiness.

When we combine so many powerful patterns, it’s always a good idea to balance them with neutral fabrics. Linen, cotton, velvet, the choice is yours! For room 101 at Covent Garden Hotel, we’ve used wools in burnt orange and blue because it’s durable and incredibly comfortable.

Covent Garden Hotel is one of our more traditional hotels. It’s situated in the heart of London’s ‘Theatreland’ and a short walk from the Royal Opera House. It’s very much a fun, vibrant and eclectic spot that brings out the inner intellectual. Philosophers welcome! Stay in one of our wonderful rooms or pop by for a coffee and some inspiration.
