This week for Sleeping Around, we thought we would give you a guided tour of The Townhouse at Haymarket Hotel, which is situated just around the corner from the National Gallery and Trafalgar Square.
Staying in a hotel should always be different and part of that adventure, in this instance, is having your OWN private front door. This means you can enjoy your stay in London as a Londoner, but you will also have the luxury of room service and all the amenities of a five-star hotel.
The Townhouse is arranged on four floors. On the ground floor you have the kitchen and dining room. It really is like being at home with all of your own kitchen utensils, a wine cupboard, teapot and coffee cafetiere. We always try to make our interiors feel like you are at home, even if you live on the other side of the world.
It is often the details in the room that capture the imagination. On the plinth sofa we have used a beautiful embroidered linen by Vaughan called ‘Keros’, and we added a contrast piping using an inside out stitching technique with a vivid pink thread.
As you go up the staircase, you come to the first floor drawing room. It is an L-shaped room with two fireplaces. This building was built by John Nash in the 18th century and he was very clever with his use of floor-to-ceiling windows which flood the room with natural light. When designing this drawing room we wanted to keep it fresh and bright with blues and raspberry reds.
Each of the four bedrooms tell a completely different story. The master bedroom called “Rose can be found on the first floor. It is both romantic and modern with its crafty use of patterns; a fresh take on the traditional. The walls have been upholstered in a gorgeous floral print with cobalt blues and deep reds.
The doors of our townhouse and Haymarket Hotel will be opening very soon and we cannot wait for you to move in!
Throughout the rest of this bedroom scheme we have picked out colours from this fabric. A tall headboard in a bold, solid red called ‘Quaintrelle Dandy’ by Holland & Sherry is subtly grand against the patterned walling. We added a contrasting border in the dotted ‘Wicker’ fabric by Fermoie, outlined with a smart navy piping to give the shape definition.
The curtains have a lovely big diamond checked pattern with a sweet beaded trim by Nina Campbell down the leading edge. The little piece of artwork beside the bed is by Catherine Cuthbert, which sits beautifully in a crisp white frame.
