Nights of dancing might be on hold for the time being, but room 206 at Knightsbridge Hotel is the perfect spot for a fiesta and a siesta. The room is cosy yet light, with a view across a quiet cobbled Knightsbridge street.
It’s a small room, but with a clever use of a bold scheme, the walls are opened up far wider. Taking centre stage in this room is the headboard. Covered in Pierre Frey’s ‘Pachuca’ design, it’s the perfect embodiment of our favourite aspects of a fabric – full of fun, colour, pizazz and texture. The cotton backcloth is printed in geometric blocks, with the layering diamond shape embroidered in a white wool, with an almost crewel-like weave.
As with all schemes, it’s vitally important to have balance. A strong monochrome or neutral colour, like this grey walling by The Cloth Shop grounds the room and doesn’t allow the rest of the fabrics to become lost in the mix. This grey fabric is the perfect stage for such a bright and wild design.
To keep a rhythmic flow, we picked out the lime green and fuchsia pinks from the headboard fabric and used these as block plains on the curtains and valance. These are both linens from Abbott & Boyd, who have the most beautiful collections of linens that drape gorgeously.
This room is full of life and excitement, just what the doctor ordered. The perfect place for both a fiesta and a siesta!
The two large comfy armchairs are covered in a beautiful wool jacquard by Andrew Martin. This lyrical charcoal design features roaming folk art symbols, which subtly pick out the darker areas of fabrics in the room, including the flint grey walling.
For the desk chair, a chunky boucle is piped in a fuchsia leather piping cord by Samuel & Sons, a definite favourite of ours.
