Our Covent Garden Hotel on Monmouth Street radiates warmth and festivity, making it a perfect escape over the Christmas period.
The Drawing Room and Library on the first floor are always so inviting and even more so at Christmas. The wood panelled walls, needlepoint upholstery and layers of history create the most wonderful atmosphere to enjoy a drink or to put your feet up after a long day exploring. Cosying up beside the beautifully ornate stone fireplace is just irresistible.
On your right hand side is the entrance to Brasserie Max, offering a delectable Christmas Afternoon Tea and a mouth-watering Christmas Day lunch.
The walls in Brasserie Max are decorated using a specialist paint effect in a soft green grey hue to lift the room, with a dark panelling beneath the Dado to ground it.
The lights and ornaments on our tree twinkle as you enter the Lobby and a bouquet of wintery florals burst from the top of our conversation chair in the middle of the room.
The upholstery is made up of a combination of weaves, leathers and linens to create our signature contrast of patterns and textures. To add a festive touch, we have wrapped a garland of ivy around the chandeliers.
The curtains are one of my favourite large scale prints by Robert Kime, which is used again on chairs and cushions to tie it in throughout the scheme. We lined the curtains with Molly Mahon’s dark blue ‘Magru’ cotton to give a different viewpoint for passers-by on the street.
My ‘Woven Ribbon’ fabric makes for a hard wearing front on the tub chairs with Seemakrish’s linen ‘Alta’ on the back. The handle chairs are made up of a combination of leathers and Kravet’s ‘Heritage Craft’ in indigo.
It may be dark by the time you finish lunch, so why not wander the illuminated streets of Seven Dials to walk off that extra roast potato. The Christmas lights are some of the best in London and bring a sparkle to these cobbled streets.
We all are in need of a little entertainment, so whilst the West End remains dormant, why not book in to watch an iconic Christmas film at our weekly Film Club. Watch White Christmas, Love Actually and It’s a Wonderful Life to name but a few, as well as a live screening of The Nutcracker from the Royal Opera House on the 20th December.
Our doors have been closed for the majority of 2020 but they are now wide open and we cannot wait to welcome you back to celebrate Christmas and to see in the New Year. Bring on a much brighter 2021!
