After 8 long months, we are ecstatic to be re-opening our doors to the treasure trove that is our Covent Garden Hotel. It has been an excruciating wait but as of Monday 2nd November we are full steam ahead and cannot wait to welcome you back.
With our opening date fast approaching, what better time to take a closer look at one of our favourite schemes. Room 206 is on the second floor and is a space of grand proportions, flooded with natural light through large double height windows.Â
The neutral walling may seem an unusual choice for us, but here it provides a balanced and calming backdrop to the pops of colour and texture elsewhere.Â
Vaughan’s ‘Hydra’ embroidered fabric on the curtains, adds depth and texture. The blue, green and coral motifs draw your eye up, giving a sense of scale and height.Â
The starting point for this scheme was a vibrant floral design by Brunschwig & Fils, ‘Edenwood’ in Rose/Hunter. Its rich palette of greeny blues, reds and yellows really sing from our Ruby headboard, bed cushions and iconic mannequin, all piped in a complimentary Samuel & Sons Brick leather piping for added definition. Â
A pair of armchairs, covered in Nina Campbell’s ‘Umbria Montefalco’, sit in front of the window. We love the single enlarged button detail on the backrests and our favourite Samuel & Sons pipe for added interest.
The end of the bed stool and handle chair are upholstered in an aqua herringbone wool, again piped in a brick coloured leather pipe. In contrast, a solid red fabric has been used on the valance to ground the scheme.Â
As ever, we called upon the expertise of Marcus Wells for framing. He has cleverly combined ivory, yellow, silver and black to create a playful yet sophisticated frame design.Â
Artwork is such an important part of our interiors; here we have framed a large embroidered textile found on my travels. The scale and design adds impact to the room, without it feeling overpowering.Â
Either side of the bed we have hung framed mirrors instead of artwork, a great trick for maximising the reflection of light within a space.Â
We hope you love this light and airy room as much as we do and are tempted to book in soon for a weekend away in this Covent Garden oasis.Â
