Room 407 at The Soho Hotel is a spacious room with two large floor to ceiling crittall windows, which both have window seats so our guests can enjoy the views over the rooftops of London.Â
The bedroom scheme is a combination of traditional romantic fabrics and contemporary bold designs.Â
The dramatic statement headboard is upholstered in Jean Monro’s ‘Rose and Fern’ fabric, which is block printed by hand.
On the opposite side of the room, the crittal windows are dressed in my fabric ‘Psycho Sprig’ in the Tropical colourway, which is sold through Andrew Martin. The curls of imaginative vines in vibrant turquoise, pink and red create a loosely undulating stripe on the crisp white linen backcloth. This fabric nods to a whimsical and romantic feel, whilst also holding a bold and contemporary approach. The white back cloth adds a sharp freshness to the bedroom.Â
On the depth of the headboard is a dusty rose pink wool. This draws out the pink tones within Monro’s floral fabric and makes the headboard pop against the soft blue linen walling. The headboard is lifted with the large nickel studding around the border.
The raspberry pink and indigo bed cushions again pick out the strongest colours from the headboard fabric.Â
The sofa has a tailored look, upholstered in ‘Berber Stripe’ by Madeaux. The horizontal wide stripe in rose and indigo was woven to resemble the rugs from the Atlas Mountains in Morocco. The soft texture is made from a combination of Alpaca and sheep wool which gives a durable and tactile feel. The sofa cushions echo the headboard fabric, creating a continuous flow and a unified space.
One of my favourite details of this bedroom are the six-botanical green and pink artworks above the console table. Created by an eccentric artist called Mimi, these works depict imaginary whimsical plants with tennis balls and flip flops instead of flowers.Â
The two tub chairs, where our guests can sit and eat their breakfast are upholstered in our favourite Pierre Frey ‘Arsene’ fabric in the Neptune colourway. The chairs are piped in the same pink wool used on the headboard depth. The solid, chunky weave holds the room together and prevents the patterns from fighting.Â
Inside the cupboard we have painted the wood a bright pink just to add that element of surprise!
We hope you enjoy this bedroom as much as we do!
