One of my favourite rooms at Crosby Street Hotel is this one bedroom Crosby Suite. I love opening the doors and stepping inside this top floor oasis. It is both romantic and modern with its crafty use of patterns; a fresh take on the traditional.
The backdrop of this generous suite is a fiery two tone linen mix with a subtle herringbone called ‘Salina’ by Gaton y Daniela. It sets the tone for this sophisticated space which feels warm and inviting. The soft, brick red colour contrasts with the cool blues of the sofa.
The drawing room curtains, which frame the floor to ceiling Crittall windows overlooking New York’s skyline, are made up in a more traditional floral linen in cobalt blue and deep red.
We used a strong and sturdy fabric by Holland & Sherry called ‘Mad Hatter’ in Turkish Blue on the dining chairs and window seat pads. This adds texture and picks out the blue from the sofa fabric perfectly, creating a striking contrast against the walling.
Throughout the room we have picked out colours from this floral pattern. Two armchairs in a chunky herringbone wool flank the fireplace and feature a neat single button in a pop of red. The mossy green colours echo the painting that sits above the fireplace. The garden scene of the stately oil painting holds its own above the crisp white fireplace.
The floral curtain fabric wraps around the walls of the spacious bedroom, including the dividing doors, creating a cosy and comfortable feel.
Finally, the end of bed stool and bed cushions are upholstered in a crisp dark blue and white fabric, called ‘Chrysanthemum’ by Bennison, echoing the sofas in the drawing room. These subtle yet very intentional repetitions create a cohesion and restfulness which is quite unusual in a room with so many patterns.
A tall headboard in a bold solid red called ‘Quaintrelle Dandy’ by Holland & Sherry is subtly grand against the patterned walling. We added a contrasting border in the dotted ‘Wicker’ fabric by Fermoie, outlined with a smart navy piping to give the shape definition.
