Who knew in the heart of London’s Soho, you could feel as though you are ‘en plein air’? Room 201 at The Soho Hotel transports you to a colourful impressionist’s landscape.
The walls are lined in an irregular stripe fabric by Kravet, which evokes a painterly feel. On the headboard we have used ‘Melusine’ by Jim Thompson, which reminds us of a Monet painting. The vibrant, dreamy palette and large scale design create a striking impact. We have outlined the headboard with a bright orange border, picking up on the orange accents in the fabric.
The plain tweed fabric on the sofa adds depth and texture, outlined with a bright orange piping. The headboard fabric has also been used on the mannequin and sofa cushions, tying the scheme together.
The plain blue linen valance with the contrasting orange kick-pleat sits behind a leather turquoise end of bed footstool that has a fine yet bright orange leather pipe.
We have hung two window-like mirrors beside the bed. These allow more light to be reflected in to the room, tricking the eye into thinking there are more windows.
On the armchairs we have used my ‘Bow & Arrow’ fabric for Christopher Farr Cloth, piped in Samuel & Sons leather in Tradewind. We love the detail and precision of the fabric buttons.
Our Handle Chair has been upholstered in a combination of blue linen and leather, accented with nickel studs. The Jim Thompson trim brings in the vibrant orange to tie all the colours together.
The unexpected stuffed toy elephants in the orange frame above the sofa add a touch of playfulness and an element of surprise to the room.
