This beautiful Suffolk Suite at the Haymarket Hotel forms part of a classic terrace designed by Regency architect John Nash.
As you step into this suite, you’ll be transported to the English countryside, with fabrics featuring bushy tailed creatures and rolling hills, but with a contemporary twist.
The drawing room is wrapped in a plain linen in rustic, malty tones. My ‘Friendly Folk’ fabric in Basil Green flanks the windows. We’ve finished the leading edge with a double row of our favourite Ric Rac trim by Samuel & Sons in a crisp white.
Behind the curtains, we added a roman blind in my patchwork style fabric called ‘Hedgerow Quince’. This cotton twill fabric depicts mythical creatures amongst a fairy-tale woodland in vibrant yellows, blues and greens.
The sofa is covered in my ‘Ribbon Weave’ design for Christopher Farr Cloth with a Samuel & Sons leather piping in the Butterfield colourway which adds a zingy finish.
Two deep buttoned armchairs with a generous scroll are also upholstered in my ‘Hedgerow’ design – one in the Quince colourway and one in the Cerise colourway, which introduces a pop of pink to the scheme.
In the bedroom we’ve continued the English country home feel but with a feminine touch. The walls are upholstered in Andrew Martin’s ‘Savannah’ ticking stripe.
The Hedgerow Cerise fabric is carried through to the bedroom on the statement headboard. A bold green wool border allows the shape of the headboard to stand proud against the pretty walling.
We can’t forget about the joyful dressing room. We’d spend hours getting ready in this jewel box! Upholstered in ‘Over The Moon’ in Denim from my collection for Andrew Martin – the walls are covered in friendly moons that peer out of the deep night sky.
On the end of bed stool and mannequin, Carolina Irving’s ‘Aegean Stripe’ linen with a broad design of triangles and dots works perfectly with the colours on the headboard fabric and also balances the pretty fabrics with a strong geometric print.
The Indian artwork from Jaipur and the quintessentially English Colin Millington woollen artworks, make for an interesting combination, united by their exquisite needlework.
The crisp curtains in ‘Tasha’s Trip’ contrast against the dark background and are finished in a sunny yellow trim, which is echoed on the top of the Handle Chair in a solid leather.
We hope you enjoy this English countryside retreat in the heart of London.
