Sometimes in a room you simply have to let the artwork do the talking.
Room 107 at Ham Yard Hotel features a large-scale water-colour painting by one of my favourite artists, Juliette Losq. Watercolours can drift into the background but Juliette Losq’s pieces are contemporary and strong.
This striking artwork stands out against the gentle hues and soft patterns of the scheme. The blue grey linen walling provides the perfect backdrop for the painting, picking up on the mid tones of the colour palette.
The rich autumnal colours of the painting are reflected by the antique rug in similar tones.
This Colefax & Fowler design is repeated on the headboard but framed with a bolder red border.
The strong red is echoed on the brighter block colour leathers on the end of bed stool, which gives this corner of the bedroom a kick of colour.
Our Willow Sofa is covered in my ‘Criss Cross’ fabric in an aqua colourway designed for Christopher Farr Cloth, creating a more tailored feel. The pastel coloured scatter cushions in Colefax & Fowler’s ‘Cassius’ fabric allows the art to speak for itself.
This room shows how a calm and serene scheme can be elevated by a beautiful, strong piece of art.
