Room 103 at Number Sixteen is a spacious Deluxe Room that overlooks the white stucco Victorian buildings of Sumner Place. This serene street is situated just moments from the heart of lively South Kensington.
The room is brought to life with a bright and airy scheme with fresh shades of blue and raspberry red. We used one of our favourite wools by Abraham Moon to create a strong border around the headboard. This adds a contemporary edge to the more traditional central headboard fabric, ‘Kashmira’ by Baker Lifestyle, which is an ode to India’s rich history of textiles.
We used Blithfield’s classic floral Simsbury fabric for the curtains and added a contemporary touch using the same wool as the headboard border for the leading edge, which is separated with a solid red leather piping.
With its subtle details and varying scales, this light-filled room is a relaxing and serene space overlooking the leafy streets of South Kensington.
A found old chest from a flea market was up-cycled by layering patterns of twigs which contrast against the wallpaper. Two landscape scenes are inlaid into the doors and we added a tasselled key. Details like this make this room feel even more special.
On the walls we used a beautiful wallpaper by Soane which repeats a minute pattern of coral. From a distance this reads as a beautiful bright blue, but up close the pattern emerges and adds another level of detail.
