Room 501 at Knightsbridge Hotel

Our Knightsbridge Hotel which has recently opened its doors, is just minutes away from Harrods, Hyde Park and the museums of South Kensington including one of our favourites, The Victoria & Albert Museum.

Today, we are giving you a peek into room 501. A fresh and light space, we hope this room brings some joy to your day.

As a starting point, we have dressed the headboard with a floral pattern by Brunschwig & Fils. While the overall large scale print creates a statement and brings character to the room, the lively watercolour strokes add texture and create a new dimension.

With such a traditional floral print, we wanted to make sure the room feels contemporary and fresh. We picked out the aqua colours from the leaves and wove it into other areas of the room. The walls have been dressed with a stripey fabric from Kravet. The imperfectly embroidered stripes bring movement to the room.

The cushions use a leaf like pattern from Rapture & Wright in combination with a yellow fabric by Abbott & Boyd to spice it up. It was wonderful to help judge this year’s Homes & Gardens Design Awards and to see Rapture & Wright crowned winners for Sustainability. Their handmade fabrics and wallpapers are manufactured in-house and they have developed a groundbreaking studio that uses an ecological treatment system to break down print waste through a series of living ponds.

The same pattern is repeated on the leading edge of the curtains. For the main fabric, a heavy wool gives structure and weight, while the turquoise colour gives that lift of a fresh summer breeze.

For the West Timber tub chairs we have used the same wool by Moon in combination with the floral print used on the headboard. Bringing these two elements together at another point in the scheme encourages the eye to explore the natural flow of the room. To create a sharp finish we added a lemon leather piping by Samuel & Sons and chrome studding at the bottom.

The sofa is upholstered in one of our fabrics for Christopher Farr Cloth called ‘Loom Weave’. The subtleties of this geometric fabric pick out the greens and blues from the room, keeping it light and fresh.

A smart leather piping holds the sofa together, whilst our classic handle chair is upholstered in ‘Jade Green” alma leather with a contrast leather piping.

We hope this bedroom evokes the magical air of the summer season as we bid farewell to the longer days and start to ready ourselves for autumn.
