Room 410 at Crosby Street Hotel

In Room 410 at Crosby Street Hotel in New York, I fell completely head over heels for the colours in a beautiful floral fabric by Soane Britain, which is the inspiration for the scheme.

The over-sized headboard is covered in this wonderful fabric and becomes the focal point for the room.

The traditional design comes alive with a fresh modern palette. To give the scheme an unexpected twist we contrasted this traditional floral design with Jim Thompson’s quilted ‘Georgiana’ textile.

The traditional ikat design is catapulted in to the modern day with the fresh, bright colours.

With two bold fabrics, we softened the scheme with an easy horizontal stripe on the curtains trimmed in bronze beading. It is these small details which bring the room to life.

While the curtains bring yet another pattern in to the room, it is a space which feels calm with a sense of harmony.

In this room have taken traditional themes and brought them right up to date.

While it’s always important to look forward when creating a new room design, it is often a combination of the traditional and the new which creates the most exciting scheme.
