Monet to Morisot: The Real and Imagined in European Art
at Brooklyn Museum, until 19th November 2023
Featuring nineteenth and early twentieth-century artworks by artists born in Europe or its colonies, ‘Monet to Morisot: The Real and Imagined in European Art’ focuses on a period of significant societal transformation, when artistic techniques, subject matter, and patronage underwent profound changes.

Guillermo del Toro: Crafting Pinocchio
at MoMa, until 15th April 2023
On view for two more weeks at MoMA is an exploration into stop-motion film and the creation of Del Toro’s first stop-motion animated feature. Puppets in various stages of completion accompany props and sets that the team crafted by hand, in multiple sizes to achieve the shots they needed throughout the film. Del Toro says: “In an era where everything is digital and people think when they see animation, they think computer. We are doing something hand-painted, hand-moulded, hand-created, and animated”.

Upcoming: Van Gogh’s Cypresses
at The Met, from 22nd May 2023
Starting on 22nd of May at The Met is a new exhibition that will solely focus on the trees which were in signature images by Vincent van Gogh. Juxtaposing landmark paintings with precious drawings and illustrated letters, many rarely, if ever, lent or exhibited together. This exhibition offers an opportunity to appreciate anew some of Van Gogh’s most celebrated works, in a context that reveals the backstory of their invention for the first time.

Thierry Mugler: Couturissime
at Brooklyn Museum, until 7th May 2023
Also at Brooklyn Museum is ‘Thierry Mugler: Couturissime’. This is the first retrospective to explore the fascinating, edgy universe of French designer and creator of iconic perfumes Thierry Mugler. A fashion visionary, Mugler established himself as one of the most daring and innovative designers of the late twentieth century. His bold silhouettes and unorthodox techniques and materials including glass, Plexiglas, vinyl, latex and chrome have made their mark on fashion history. View over 100 pieces, as well as photos and videos of Mugler during his lifetime.
