Out and About: Our May Diary

To get ready for the month ahead, we’d like to share some of the diary highlights we are most looking forward to in London. Here’s how we’ll be going ‘Out and About’ this May…

London Craft Week (8th – 14th May)

London Craft Week brings together over 250 makers, designers and brands both established and emerging. It showcases unique imagination, individuality and skill in hand crafted pieces.

To celebrate Craft week we are hosting a talk at Charlotte Street Hotel. This will be an ‘in conversation’ with Eppie Thompson, Kit and Fine Cell Work’s Victoria Gillies. Although the event has sold out, we are going to blog our highlights of the talk which will focus on the act and art of stitch work. Watch this space!

An Evening of Art & Creative Cocktails with Willow Kemp (10th May)

Haymarket Hotel invites you to come and have a tour of the hotels’ art collection with Willow Kemp, followed by a creative cocktail masterclass and two-course dinner at Brumus Restaurant. You’ll get up close and personal with unique works from renowned artists such as Sir Tony Cragg, Sue Lawty and Sandra Blow. Willow will also share her top tips for sourcing and displaying your own art collection. Find tickets here.

Photo London (11th – 15th May)

Photo London brings the best international photography to the capital every year. There is always an amazing range of galleries including the ‘Photo London Discovery’ which spotlights emerging artists and galleries. They have a very exciting programme of talks this year which are all worth exploring.

Charleston Festival (17th – 29th May)

Charleston Festival brings together writers and artists to engage with art and ideas. There is an active programme of talks, conversations and performances. It is also a great opportunity to explore the house of Vanessa Bell and Duncan Grant and the beautiful blossoming gardens.

Chelsea Flower Show (22nd – 27th May)

The Chelsea Flower Show is one of our favourite events. It has been held in Chelsea since 1912. It brings together cutting edge garden design, new plants and inspiring ideas to take home with you. Book your tickets early to avoid disappointment and join us for a spot of afternoon tea at Number Sixteen enroute!

 Clerkenwell Design Week (23rd – 25th May)

Next on our list is to head to Clerkenwell for its Design Week. See immersive installations and displays from some of the design world’s leading brands. Expect to see the latest innovations in furniture, lighting and surfaces as well as a few parties!

We hope we’ll see you ‘Out and About’ in London this May. Wherever you are, share your adventures with us on Instagram @KitKempDesignThread.
