Out and About: Guide Dogs at Haymarket Hotel

The London Marathon was back and we couldn’t have been happier! At Haymarket Hotel, UK charity ‘Guide Dogs’ celebrated with the 138 people who ran for them, raising over £230k.

Although it was strange to see things take place in autumn this year, the event felt extra special. Haymarket Hotel is close to the iconic finishing line at The Mall and the atmosphere at the hotel was one of celebration and relief. During the afternoon at Brumus Bar & Restaurant a steady stream of satisfied runners arrived. Some moving more smoothly than others.

All of our hotels are dog friendly, but Sunday saw a few more of our four-legged friends present than usual.

Guide Dogs is a charity close to our hearts. They help people with sight loss to have the confidence and support they need to live their lives to the full. The charity breeds and trains guide dogs that provide life changing mobility and there are currently 4,500 working guide dog partnerships in the UK.

We covered the pool with timber panels and on the wall, we projected a live stream of the London Marathon. Each runner was treated to refreshments, a post-race massage and they were able to meet some of the life changing dogs. It was a place for runners to meet their friends and family and enjoy some well deserved relaxation.

Pictured here is our friend Toby Ryan, who ran a speedy three hour marathon. He wasn’t the only one who wanted to take a dog or two home!
