Martha Freud Pottery Workshop

On today’s blog, we’re thrilled to shine a spotlight on the exceptional London-based ceramicist, Martha Freud. Her delicate glowing pots and pendant lights grace many of the spaces we’ve designed in both London and New York. Additionally, we’re excited to announce an upcoming pottery workshop with Martha, set for Saturday, April 27th at Ham Yard Hotel. Join us as we explore the details of this exciting event and show how Martha’s intricate handmade pots illuminate the walls of our hotels.

Just a few weeks ago, we had the pleasure of hosting a dinner in Martha’s honour, celebrating her remarkable talent, which is prominently showcased at our newest hotel, Warren Street Hotel.

In The Orangery at Warren Street Hotel, we’ve curated a captivating display of Martha’s delicate pots to infuse light and dimension into the space. Nestled within vibrant orange niches, these glowing ceramic pots create a truly enchanting atmosphere.

Each of Martha’s handmade ceramic pots are meticulously crafted with their own unique design, often featuring magical forest elements like organic mushrooms and whimsical fairies. Drawing inspiration from nature and her forest walks, Martha’s creative process embraces the beauty of clay, resulting in works that are both natural and earthy.

In the restaurant at Warren Street Hotel, Martha’s tulip ceramic pendant lights gracefully encircle a cosy table, inviting guests to immerse themselves in the warmth and charm of her creations. Hanging from above, these pendant lights add depth, texture and character to the space. If you find yourself in New York, we invite you to visit Warren Street Hotel and discover Martha’s latest works firsthand.

You can also find Martha’s marvelous pots illuminating the walls at Ham Yard Hotel and Dorset Square Hotel in London and The Whitby Hotel in New York.

During Martha’s workshop at Ham Yard Hotel, you’ll learn all about Martha’s unique artistic style and the inspiration behind her delicately crafted pieces. Martha will guide you through the process of crafting your own ceramic plant pot and water tray out of clay and decorating them with an inscription, to create a truly personal handmade ceramic to cherish. Following the session, your items will be fired, glazed and delivered to your preferred address.
