Celebrating the Enchantment of Folklore

As the 17th of March approaches, bringing with it the spirit of St. Patrick’s Day and the mischievous allure of Irish leprechauns, we’re delighted to revel in our adoration for folklore and its profound influence on our designs. We firmly believe that fairy tales hold a timeless magic, transcending age barriers to captivate hearts young and old alike. In our creative endeavours, we pay homage to these enchanting narratives, infusing our designs with nods to mythical creatures and whimsical landscapes to evoke a sense of nostalgia and wonder.

Step into our Loft Suite at Covent Garden Hotel, where the walls come alive with the whimsy of our Mythical Land Wallpaper with Andrew Martin. Here, among the curious creatures and fantastical foliage, you’re invited to let your imagination roam freely, journeying through enchanted realms where fairies dance and mysteries await discovery.

Venture to the bottom of Kit’s garden in the New Forest, where a charming Shepherd’s hut nestled among the ancient trees serves as a sanctuary for storytelling. Inside, Melissa White’s exquisite American folk art adorns the walls, igniting the imagination with tales of fairies and otherworldly beings.

Incorporating elements of folklore into our designs infuses spaces with a romantic allure, as exemplified by our collaboration with GP & J Baker on the Tall Trees wallpaper. Elegant and romantic, yet imbued with a hint of fantasy, it beckons you into a world where reality and myth intertwine.

Throughout our hotels, traces of folk art and craft abound, from handmade appliqué cushions showcasing mythical creatures to embroidered designs bursting with supernatural blooms. These exquisite details, available for purchase at Shop Kit Kemp, invite you to bring a touch of magic into your own home. Shown below are our new ‘Bramble’ and ‘Drift’ cushions with Annie Selke.

At our Design Studio, storytelling through artistry is paramount. From bespoke headboards that weave tales within a room to our chinaware collections like Sailors Farewell, which whisk you away on maritime adventures with merfolk and sea creatures, every element is crafted to spark wonder and delight.

Join us for a dining experience at The Whitby Hotel’s Orangery, where a mosaic of a mermaid above the fireplace adds an extra layer of mystique to the ambiance, inviting diners to embark on their own journey of discovery.

As you explore our hotels, we encourage you to embark on your own fairy hunt, discovering hidden treasures and whimsical details that transport you to a realm of pure imagination. Through our charming designs, we aim to create spaces that inspire tales of adventure and nostalgia, sparking joy and wonder time and time again.

May our celebration of folklore inspire you to infuse your interior spaces with a touch of magic, allowing your mind to wander into realms where dreams and reality intertwine seamlessly.
