Join Jane Horrocks & Esther Coles for Beekeeping on the Roof Terrace

No matter how many times I visit Ham Yard Hotel’s Roof Terrace and see the flourishing garden, complete with two bee hives, I still find it hard to believe that I’m in the midst of London! It’s complete with a water feature, large teak outdoor benches and raised flower beds which we found at RHS Chelsea Flower Show one year. You might have spotted our recent blog post where we decked the space out with our indoor / outdoor rugs, pillows and bedspreads from my Annie Selkie collection to celebrate its launch.

We’ll be returning to Ham Yard Hotel again as we launch Beekeeping on the Roof Terrace. This is a series of events which celebrate the art of beekeeping hosted by actors and stars of the acclaimed ‘Queen Bees’ podcast,  Jane Horrocks and Esther Coles. There is so much to learn about bees and beekeeping, so we would like to invite you to learn with us. Our first event takes place on Monday 13th June.

After a long cold and wet winter, our bees are thriving and have produced a great deal of honey in a short amount of time. A honey bee colony works as a team, consisting of up to 60,000 bees. Bees live up to six weeks in summer and eight weeks in winter and their specific roles vary as they age.

We are so proud of our bees. They are providing us with valuable ecosystems, pollinating our trees, flowers and of course, gifting us with delicious produce. Our honey has a unique aroma and taste because of the flowers and trees found in London. I also take my hat off to bees for their design skills and think honeycomb is one of the most beautiful designs found in nature. Thank you bees!
