How To

Explore some of the unique and surprising ways we've used our favourite bright and bold fabrics in our designs...

As you know, we love to use fabrics throughout our spaces. Stepping into one of our hotels is like stepping into a room full of vibrant stories and rich textures. Fabrics with beautiful colours can transform any space, from covering furniture to adorning unexpected objects. We especially love to embrace the unexpected, particularly when it comes to using fabrics in places that people often overlook. Follow along to see some ways we’ve used fabric in unique and surprising manners.

Upholstered Doors

Doors are often left untouched or simply given a coat of paint. We love to upholster our doors, as it not only adds a layer of luxury but also provides an elegant finish to your space. They become statement pieces, transforming ordinary doors into works of art. Whether you choose vibrant patterns or subtle, neutral tones, an upholstered door can elevate a room and create a cohesive look that highlights attention to detail.

In one of our residences at Ham Yard Hotel, we used a stunning fabric by Designer’s Guild featuring a captivating mural with detailed brush strokes. This beautiful fabric covers all the doors leading into the drawing room, bringing the entire area to life.

Upholstered Sofa Legs

In The Garden Suite at our new Warren Street Hotel, we have used our Chesterfield Sofa as the centrepiece, upholstered in Pierre Frey’s fabric ‘Rangiroa’. A subtle yet impactful detail is the fabric-covered legs of the sofa, adding a unique touch that elevates the entire piece and space. Incorporating fabric in unexpected ways, such as on the legs of furniture, is a simple yet effective method to bring personality and depth into a space.

Fabric Pockets on Chairs

In our hotels, you’ll also discover the innovative use of fabric in the form of handy side pockets on our signature chairs. These fabric pockets are perfect for storing your newspaper, reading glasses, or even a good book while you enjoy a cup of tea or coffee. This practical yet stylish feature adds convenience and charm to the seating.

We hope you’ve enjoyed discovering the creative ways fabric can be used beyond its conventional applications. From upholstering doors and adding pockets to chairs to using fabric as wall art and even on the legs of furniture, the possibilities are endless. Get creative and explore the power of fabric in your own space, and watch your room come to life!
