We are known for our love of fabrics at our Design Studio. Patterns, colour combinations and textures are always a source of inspiration for us. Sometimes, one fabric or even two just isn’t enough! We can’t help but use combinations of three on our chairs, sofas and stools. Join us as we share how to make statements with combinations of three.
When we redesigned Julian Chichester’s showroom window at Design Centre in Chelsea Harbour, we were inspired by colour blocking and used bold and bright colours for this striking display. By upholstering this sofa in a combination of fabrics we have created a totally unique design.
Look no further than our bar stools at Ham Yard Bar and The Whitby Bar, where you’ll be sure to find a colour blocking win! Here we have used a combination of three leathers.
In room 803 at The Whitby Hotel, we took colour inspiration from the design of this statement headboard to give personality to a tub chair. A combination of teal blue and a sophisticated ruby tone add extra pops of colour.
In our bedrooms, armchairs and cushions create a great opportunity for us to bring strong colour combinations together.
In room 803’s drawing room, the same teal blue wool covers the seat and seat back of our Whitby Chair, whilst our Ashenwood fabric adds flair to the outside seat back. A ruby wool piping ties these combinations together.
We hope this blog post inspires you to step out of the box and create colourful combinations. To explore our ideas for creating unexpected combinations, find our blog post: The Odd One Out.
If the idea of using more than three fabrics feels intimidating, introduce your third colour through contrasting piping. It is a sure way to make your furniture feel unique without letting things get too busy. Here are some examples!
