Last week we launched the showroom for my new fabric and wallpaper collaboration with Andrew Martin.
Nestled in the corner of the showroom is an upholstered chest of drawers.
The chest is covered in my ‘Over the Moon’ fabric, designed for the new collection with Andrew Martin. Beneath the fabric is a thin layer of foam cushioning, which gives a whole new feel to the chest.
It makes a wonderful feature piece and is a great way of upcycling tired or damaged furniture.
Much like the signature Mannequins in our bedrooms at Firmdale Hotels, there is something unexpected and inventive about this. By upholstering something which is ordinarily utilitarian in a colourful fabric, the object is celebrated beyond its original functionality.
