Deck The Halls

The festive season is here and age-old traditions are celebrated. We fill our spaces with Christmas trees, misty shades of green, scents of pine and luscious leaves of holly. We take an organic approach when dressing our hotels for Christmas. Join us on a journey through our hotels as we share our festive decorations with you. We hope these examples will inspire you to deck the halls with boughs of holly, pines and more!

The Druids believed that holly branches protected them from harm and would decorate their homes to ward off evil spirits. At Knightsbridge Hotel, we have echoed these traditions by mixing boughs of holly, dried red hydrangeas, eucalyptus and twig branches to decorate the mantel pieces and console tables.

Pine cones have been used in ancient ceremonial rituals dating back thousands of years. They are vital to the ecological development of our forests, symbolising purification, enlightenment and renewal. During the festive season pine cones are a great way to add rustic texture and instil warmth and charm to your spaces.

In the lobby at Covent Garden Hotel we painted dried grass in gold paint and added this to our arrangement on the conversation chair. To add an additional sense of grandeur, we used boughs of pine as garlands for the staircase. Pine cones, cinnamon sticks and berries were added to create a festive sense of arrival.

The festive season can be an expensive time of year, but it doesn’t have to be. Here at our Design Studio, we champion homemade crafts and Christmas brings the perfect opportunity to get creative and inject some fun and personality into your spaces. This year we created many of our tree decorations by using fabric offcuts and ribbon.

We recently rolled up our sleeves and created our very own decorations for tablescaping too. Find our blog post: Design Threads: Decorations for Tablescaping for some simple but effective ideas that can be enjoyed by the entire family.

Thank you for exploring our organic arrangements. Whatever your festive plans are this year, we wish you a very happy one!
