An Evening with Harriet Thistlethwayte & Paula Sutton

Day to Day

There is something rather wonderful about allowing the seasons to find their way into our homes. A branch of autumn leaves in a favourite jug, a bowl piled high with apples from the garden or a handful of slightly unruly flowers can completely change the feeling of a room.

It is this joyful connection between home, garden and the changing seasons that sits at the heart of Harriet Thistlethwayte’s new book, A Country Style: Living and Creating with Nature Through the Seasons. On Wednesday 7th October, we are delighted to welcome Harriet to Number Sixteen in South Kensington, where she will be joined in conversation by the brilliant Paula Sutton of Hill House Vintage for an intimate evening in The Orangery.

Harriet is a photographer, gardener and writer whose Victorian greenhouse and Herefordshire garden inspire her instinctive approach to living with nature. From growing flowers and vegetables to arranging hand-tied bouquets and celebrating the simple pleasures each season brings, her work is rooted in finding beauty in the everyday.

It is a philosophy that feels very close to our own. At our Design Studio, we have always believed that the most interesting interiors evolve over time rather than arriving perfectly finished. A home should tell you something about the people who live there, with pieces gathered on travels, paintings you love, an old chair with a beautifully worn arm or a textile that makes your heart sing.

There could hardly be a more fitting setting for Harriet and Paula’s conversation than Number Sixteen. The Orangery looks out onto a tucked away South Kensington garden, creating a lovely sense of connection between indoors and outdoors.

Join us for an evening of drinks, canapés and conversation, with a Q&A and book signing, plus inspiration for bringing the beauty of the outdoors into your home this autumn. Discover the event and book tickets here.
