There’s something wonderfully transporting about stepping into Haymarket Hotel. The bustle of the city softens, colour and texture take centre stage and every corner invites curiosity. This June, that spirit of discovery extends beyond the hotel walls with the Midsummer Art Walk led by Willow Kemp, an evening for those who love art, storytelling and beautifully layered interiors.
The experience begins with a summer cocktail, before guests are guided through Haymarket Hotel’s remarkable contemporary collection. Works by celebrated British artists sit comfortably alongside emerging talent, reflecting a distinctly Firmdale approach, serious art without solemnity. Willow shares not only the stories behind the pieces, but also the pleasure of living with art and how colour, craftsmanship and unexpected finds can shape a space into something deeply personal.
As the evening unfolds, guests are taken to the Treasure House Fair at the historic Royal Hospital Chelsea, where over 70 galleries and dealers gather beneath the midsummer sky. There’s Champagne at the Oscar Bar, conversations that drift between antiques and contemporary works and that unmistakable London in June atmosphere.
Dinner follows at Brumus Brasserie’s pop-up within the fair, seasonal, elegant and unfussy, the kind of evening that lingers long after the final course. It feels less like an event and more like an invitation into a creative world cultivated over decades.
Extend your Adventures in Art with an overnight stay at Haymarket Hotel on Thursday 25th June. Enjoy a complimentary breakfast followed by in intimate guided tour of the National Portrait Gallery at 10am before the gallery opens to the public.
