At the Kit Kemp Design Studio, we have always believed that design is about discovery. It is about curiosity, collaboration and the joy of finding new voices and perspectives that enrich the way we create. One initiative that embodies this spirit perfectly is Next In Design. Next In Design is a wonderful platform that supports emerging designers as they enter the industry, placing their voices in the spotlight and giving them a wider audience. Applicants must have been in business for fewer than five years at the time of the 2026 winners’ announcement on 12 May 2026.
We have always loved working with new suppliers and independent makers. Whether it is textiles, ceramics, furniture or artwork, introducing new talent into our projects keeps our work evolving and brings a unique character to everything we do. Supporting smaller studios and growing creative businesses is something we feel strongly about. It also allows our designs to become more vibrant and diverse as we discover and collaborate with an array of new artists and designers.
Design is constantly evolving. While it is important to look to the past for inspiration, it is equally important to look to the future. This is why Next In Design is so valuable in helping to move the industry forward with new talent, fresh ideas and different perspectives. After all, we all take inspiration from one another.
Reflecting her long-standing passion for championing creativity and supporting the next generation of designers, Kit sits on the board of Next In Design, keeping a keen eye on emerging makers and designers. The winners will be informed at the end of the month and will be featured in the July issue of Homes & Gardens, so keep your eyes peeled for some exciting new talent.
Programmes like this play such an important role in the design industry, helping new talent grow and giving exciting ideas the chance to flourish. We look forward to continuing to discover and work with many of these inspiring designers in the future.
