This February, we were delighted to unveil the newly refurbished Drawing Room and Library at Charlotte Street Hotel, adorned with our latest fabric collection with GP & J Baker, a partnership close to our hearts. It is, without question, one of our favourite collections to date: joyful, characterful and full of the layered storytelling we love. This week on the blog, we take you through how these new fabrics have been used at Charlotte Street Hotel, from bold upholstery to considered decorative details, showing how pattern, colour and craftsmanship come together to create spaces that feel both timeless and wonderfully alive.
Our first ever chintz, Marigold in Sunshine, wraps the walls in warmth, setting the tone for the rest of the scheme. Its delicate, rhythmic pattern gently draws the eye upwards, enhancing the sense of height and lending the room an elegant, uplifting proportion.
The curtains and Chesterfield sofas are upholstered in Tudor Rose in the Clementine colourway, a favourite textile from our collection. As a large-scale print, we wanted to celebrate its full impact, allowing the lively florals, scrolling green leaves, and vibrant bursts of orange and red to take centre stage. The result brings a sense of garden-fresh abundance indoors, filling the space with warmth, energy and natural charm.
In front of the stone fireplace, a pair of armchairs upholstered in Zephyr sit companionably side by side, their tailored silhouettes providing balance to the exuberance of the surrounding prints.
By the window wall, another seating area unfolds. A deep-buttoned sofa, upholstered in Tip Toe in Earth Indigo, introduces a lively striped weave rich with rhythm and movement, animating the space and drawing the eye across the room. Flanking it, two Leo armchairs are dressed in Noah’s Ark in Spice, a characterful textile designed to evoke the delicate artistry of embroidery. Together, the layered patterns create a scheme that feels both curated and effortlessly inviting.
On the back wall, a carefully curated gallery arrangement showcases striking oil paintings, including works by Vanessa Bell and Duncan Grant, founding members of the Bloomsbury Group. This artistic thread runs throughout the hotel, celebrating craft and creativity.
Moving into the adjoining room, you’ll discover the library, a cosy, panelled retreat designed for quiet moments by the fire. Two wing armchairs sit gracefully on either side of the fireplace, upholstered in Tudor Rose in the Chocolate colourway. To create a considered dialogue between the two spaces, we echoed the same design in an alternative colourway next door, subtly linking the rooms while allowing each to retain its own distinct character.
We hope you have enjoyed exploring the newly refurbished Drawing Room and Library at Charlotte Street Hotel. Next time you are wandering through Fitzrovia, do pop in and take a peek!
