Head in the Clouds

Day to Day

Discover how we draw inspiration from the sky, bringing its colour, light and softness into our interiors...

There is something endlessly captivating about the sky. Ever changing and full of drama, it can shift from soft and serene to bold and electric in a matter of moments, offering a constant source of inspiration. At our Design Studio, we are continually drawn to nature and the ways it can be translated into interiors. Cloud motifs, airy blues, crisp whites and silvery greys bring a sense of calm and lightness to a space, while deeper tones and layered textures add atmosphere and intrigue. Join us as we explore a selection of interiors inspired by cloudscapes and open skies, filled with uplifting colour, gentle pattern and a touch of daydreaming.

This hand embroidered appliqué headboard, created with fashion designer Clio Peppiatt, feels more like a work of art than a piece of furniture. Magical moons, drifting clouds and twinkling stars come together to form a dreamlike landscape. It was a joy to bring to life, from the very first sketch to the final stitch.

For this suite, we wrapped the walls in our new Puff fabric, designed for Andrew Martin. Its shifting tones bring movement and depth, creating a soft, cloud like atmosphere that sits somewhere between the sky above and the sea below. The effect is calming, textured and full of quiet character.

Our Rain or Shine embroidery, designed for Chelsea Textiles is a charming and timeless nod to the way British weather weaves itself into daily life. An English day can hold all four seasons at once, from rain to sunshine and everything in between, yet the clouds always drift onward and the sun always reappears, bringing with it a quiet sense of optimism.

We love this suite at Warren Street Hotel, which feels wonderfully sky inspired with its cloud like whites and calming blue palette. Soft, airy tones create a sense of lightness, while layered textures bring warmth and comfort. It is the perfect cocoon to retreat to, offering a space that feels both soothing and uplifting.

Whether it is the softness of drifting clouds or the ever changing tones of an open sky, these elements offer endless inspiration for interiors. From airy whites and gentle blues to layered textures and playful pattern, sky inspired schemes can bring a sense of calm, lightness and quiet escapism to a space. As the seasons shift, we love looking upwards for fresh ideas and finding new ways to capture that uplifting feeling indoors.
