On Thursday 23rd October, we hosted a delightful English afternoon tea in The Orangery at Warren Street Hotel, to celebrate our latest Shop Kit Kemp collections. Bathed in soft autumn light, The Orangery was transformed into a cosy haven filled with colour, conversation and creativity, the perfect setting for a joyful gathering. Guests enjoyed a first look at our newest collection, featuring intricately hand-stitched cushions, appliqué details, vibrant throws, playful china and decorative pieces. Each piece celebrates craftsmanship and individuality, inviting you to bring a touch of the studio’s joyful design into your home.
Filling the air with a delicate fragrance was a display of Kit’s signature RIKRAK bath and body products, each carefully crafted with natural scents. From Tall Trees dish soap and Gardenia Sandalwood soaps to Lavender hand wash sets and plush bathrobes, every item encouraged guests to indulge in a little everyday luxury. These treasures were beautifully presented in Bundle Baskets, each nestled within a colourful handwoven basket.
A favourite of the afternoon was our 1,000-piece jigsaw illustrated by SJ Axelby. Featuring charming depictions of our hotel rooms, including the drawing room at Ham Yard Hotel, each piece invites you to uncover the colour, detail and joy that define our spaces. A true celebration of simple pleasures, these puzzles are a perfect harmony of craft and design.
Our handmade cushions lined the banquette beneath the magical Martha Freud pots, each one a miniature work of art. The Flower Power Pink Cushion brings artistic flair with its detailed appliqué flower design in pink, blue and brown, finished with playful blue herringbone piping. Complementing this, our Rick Rack Cushions add a fun pop of pattern, while the Bolster Little Weed Cushions lend a cheerful touch. Together they create a vibrant mix full of personality and charm.
Our mighty mannequins also caught everyone’s attention, styled as if ready to explore the city streets with a tote in one hand and a playful patchwork toy in the other.
Adding a touch of early Christmas magic, we shared ideas for festive gifting, from elegant plates and mugs to timeless treasures for design lovers. The Doodles Christmas Collection reminded us that it is never too soon to embrace the sparkle of the season, with each design celebrating life’s joyful moments. A particular highlight was the Elephant Snow Globe, featuring Kit’s Rick Rack fabric in vibrant pinks and reds alongside our beloved patchwork elephant, Jambo. With a quick shake, he is whisked into a winter wonderland, a joyful gift for the holidays.
Tables were dressed with new embroidered napkins and tablecloths, designed to make even the simplest of moments feel special.
This wonderful afternoon coincided with Dovetail, a celebration of British creativity taking place across New York. As part of the Dovetail Trail, design lovers explored a curated journey through showrooms and creative spaces across the city, each showcasing remarkable examples of craft and design. Our Shop Kit Kemp event at Warren Street Hotel felt perfectly at home within this inspiring week, highlighting the artistry and imagination behind every piece.
Guests chatted over tea sandwiches, freshly baked scones and our signature tea. The Orangery buzzed with warmth, conversation and inspiration, that unmistakable feeling that comes when design, craftsmanship and good company come together.
It was a truly special afternoon that captured the spirit of creativity, craftsmanship and of course a touch of festive magic. These were just a few of the many treasures on display. Sign up for future events here.
