We believe walls do more than hold up ceilings. They are canvases, storytellers and sometimes the stars of a room. Wallpaper has the power to transform a space, shift moods and spark curiosity. It is not just decoration, it is an art form that invites the eye to linger and the imagination to roam. On today’s blog, we are exploring how wallpaper continues to inspire us and bring interiors to life.
Many of our wallpaper designs begin with hand-drawn sketches or stitched textiles that evolve into immersive patterns. Each one tells a story and becomes an integral part of the space.
One of our favourites is Songbird, available through Andrew Martin and Shop Kit Kemp. Birds perch delicately on winding branches, singing to butterflies mid-flight. With its whimsical charm and five soft colourways — Spring, Dawn, Mist, Rain and Sunset, it transforms rooms into romantic and lively spaces.
Another example is Tall Trees, designed for GP and J Baker. This breathtaking wallpaper is inspired by a misty woodland stroll and features mythical creatures, birds and rabbits nestled among bluebells and ancient trees. It invites guests to pause, explore and discover new details with every glance, becoming a visual storybook on your walls.
Beyond Walls
Why stop at the walls? Extending wallpaper across ceilings creates immersive surprises. Our Travelling Light wallpaper, with its joyful geometric forms, brings rhythm and movement to any room. We used this design in a bathroom where it covers both walls and ceiling, proving that even the smallest spaces can spark conversation and personality. It becomes a work of art in its own right.
In another space, we carried our Friendly Folk wallpaper across both the walls and ceiling, mirroring the design in the curtain fabric. The result is a warm, cocooning atmosphere that envelops the room in charm.
At the Bergdorf Goodman Restaurant, we papered the ceiling with our Starry Night wallpaper to create a magical setting. This simple detail adds a sense of wonder and enchantment to the dining experience.
Small Spaces, Big Statements
Corridors, powder rooms and alcoves are often overlooked, yet they offer the perfect opportunity for bold wallpaper to shine. At Dorset Square Hotel, our vibrant botanical print, adorned with vegetable illustrations, transforms a narrow hallway into a lively, immersive journey. With its rich scale and colour, the design invites the imagination to wander, turning simple passageways into playful, story-filled runways.
Wallpapers That Anchor a Room
Wallpaper can also serve as a dramatic focal point. At Charlotte Street Hotel, Constantinople wallpaper by Andrew Martin has been used in a suite to depict an ancient city map. Enlarged to complement the soaring ceilings, it commands the room with intricate detail and character.
In the restaurant at Warren Street Hotel, textured wallpaper by Pierre Frey brings depth and dimension to the space. The rich, tactile finish transforms the walls into expressive surfaces that feel both grounded and artfully composed.
Rhythm and Play
Our Ozone wallpaper for Christopher Farr reimagines a classic grid with a playful twist. Motifs set within structured geometric lines create rhythm and texture, bringing vibrant energy to the Brumus Bar at Haymarket Hotel.
These are just a few of the many wallpapers we love. Wallpaper is more than decoration. It is art, storytelling and a powerful way to bring personality into a space. Let your walls speak.
