As summer lingers with its soft golden light, stripes are stealing the show in our Design Studio. There is something deeply satisfying about a well-placed stripe. As the season shifts, stripes become our way of holding on to the last, best bits of summer: the outdoor chairs in the garden, the breeze through the curtains and the way colour seems just a little more saturated in the sun.
Our favourites this season are from our ever-inspiring GP & J Baker collection. Bunty in indigo is a relaxed beauty, a stripe that feels both classic and quirky. Its inky palette of soft blues and deep navy evokes memories of a favourite faded pair of jeans, while the punch of orange keeps it zingy and fresh.
Then there is Jogalong, a joyful riot of warmth and movement. The red ochre colourway brings together rich reds, soft rusts and golden neutrals that feel sun-baked and earthy. It is the perfect palette for late summer. Its painterly bands of colour feel hand-drawn and spontaneous. It is ideal for bringing fun and energy into a more neutral scheme, or for creating a bold focal point in a hallway or snug.
Stripes, for us, are never a background player. We layer them with florals, we pair them with geometrics and we let them clash and collide.
Another favourite is Runaway. This stripe is rich, bold, and beautifully tailored. The deep indigo sets the perfect stage for vibrant cherry red, creating a look that feels smart and effortlessly cool. The pairing of red and indigo is timeless yet full of punch.
