This week, we are excited to share the newly redesigned Sherwood private events space at Ham Yard Hotel. Tucked away on the lower ground floor with no natural light, it might be easy to imagine the space as dark or uninspiring. Instead, we saw it as an opportunity to transform an often overlooked corner of the hotel into a vibrant room full of colour, texture and thoughtful design. Join us on today’s blog as we take a closer look inside.
Unlike a typical boardroom, Sherwood breaks away from the expected. A richly layered colour palette brings warmth and personality, creating a welcoming and distinctive atmosphere. The walls are lined in our Bunty fabric, designed for GP & J Baker. This woven stripe adds depth and texture while maintaining a timeless yet fresh feel. Subtle embroidered details are echoed in the artwork and framing, showing how every detail has been carefully considered.
To enhance the sense of cohesion, the sofa is upholstered in the same fabric as the walls, creating a seamless and tailored finish.
Red features throughout the space, grounding the palette and adding energy and richness. It is a surprisingly versatile colour that complements the other tones beautifully. The Kit’s Wing Chairs and West Timber Tub Chairs are upholstered in another favourite fabric created with GP & J Baker – Runaway in coral and green. Its smart stripe contributes to the room’s polished and layered look.
For the event chairs, we chose a durable and tactile wool. Its understated tone allows the surrounding patterns and colours to shine, while the bright yellow leather piping adds a playful accent and ties the whole scheme together.
The refreshed Sherwood room is inspired by travel, a recurring theme we love in our Design Studio. It feels crafted and considered, full of character and thoughtful detail. No longer just a meeting room, Sherwood is now a space designed for creativity, conversation and connection.
