Join us as we take a closer look at one of our favourite wallpaper and fabric designs for GP & J Baker: Potato Print. This joyful design pays homage to the timeless art of potato printing, reimagined with a refined and playful touch. We’ve created a range of distinctive colourways to suit a variety of styles, from the crisp white backdrop and vibrant hues of Jewel, to the softer, earthier tones of Green and Chocolate. On today’s blog, we’re delighted to share how this charming small-scale print has been brought to life in our interiors, adding character and warmth to each space.

Potato Print holds a special place in our hearts. Here in our studio, we hand-carved real potatoes and block-printed colourful shapes onto paper to create a unique piece of art. The work was part of a fundraising initiative for the Charleston Trust and remains a wonderful reminder of the creativity and fun that inspired the design.

In the Songbird Suite at The Soho Hotel, the Sage colourway features on the back of the Clemmie Chairs. This subtle palette adds gentle intrigue and sits effortlessly alongside the lively Songbird wallpaper that brings the Drawing Room to life.

At Residence 21 in Ham Yard Hotel, our iconic Kit’s Wing Chair is upholstered in the Green colourway. This bold interpretation of the pattern combines a structured layout with irregular painted tones, resulting in a fabric that is visually captivating and endlessly interesting.

We have also upholstered the walls of the newly refurbished Vanessa Bell Room at Charlotte Street Hotel using the Green colourway. The result is an invigorating space full of character, ideal for meetings, events or creative workshops.

With Mocha Mouse announced as the Pantone Colour of the Year for 2025, we have highlighted the Chocolate colourway on our Whitby Chairs. Available on Shop Kit Kemp, these chairs are both elegant and versatile, perfect as a statement piece or grouped around a dining table.

In Residence 5 at Ham Yard Hotel, the entrance corridor has been upholstered in the Plaster colourway. Soft pinks and dusty terracottas create a warm and welcoming atmosphere, gently leading the eye into the adjoining rooms. Entrance halls and corridors are often overlooked in interior design, but as the first impression of a home, they offer the perfect opportunity to make a subtle impact.

Finally, we come to the most vibrant colourway in the collection: Jewel. This version features bold hand-block motifs printed on a crisp white linen background. It is playful, full of energy and ideal for adding a burst of colour and character to any interior. Whether used on cushions, statement furniture or accent pieces, Jewel brings a sense of fun and personality.
