Fabric Focus: Knight’s Tale

Day to Day

Take a closer look at our Knight’s Tale fabric and discover how it can add depth and character to your interiors...

Introducing Knight’s Tale, one of our favourite fabrics from our recent collection for GP & J Baker. Drawing inspiration from 16th-century crewelwork that illustrates pastoral scenes, this design has been carefully reimagined for a contemporary interior. It seamlessly blends historical detail with a modern sensibility, making it a versatile choice for walls, upholstery and accessories alike. With its rich narrative and timeless appeal, Knight’s Tale brings depth and character to any space.

In today’s blog, we’re sharing how we have brought Knight’s Tale to life within several of our own interiors, offering ideas and inspiration for how you might weave this design into your own home.

This printed fabric is available in six colourways: Plaster, Sage/Blue, Jewel, Cocoa, Spring Green and Fuchsia.

In the Virginia Woolf Suite at Charlotte Street Hotel, the Spring Green colourway enlivens the headboard, cushions and end-of-bed stool. On closer inspection, the fabric reveals a richly detailed scene layered with narrative and imagination. With timeless motifs reinterpreted through a contemporary lens, Knight’s Tale invites a sense of escapism, evoking faraway lands and infusing the space with visual storytelling.

In the adjoining Drawing Room, the same design features in the vibrant Fuchsia colourway. It brings a sense of cohesion throughout the suite while adding a lively twist.

In Residence 21 at Ham Yard Hotel, the chairs and curtains have been upholstered in the soft Plaster colourway. Its gentle tone creates a calm and serene atmosphere, blending effortlessly with the room’s curated design and offering enduring appeal.

We find Knight’s Tale to be an exceptionally adaptable fabric, thanks to the richness of the palette within each colourway. Each one offers an array of tones to draw from, making it easy to connect with other elements in a room. For example, in The Orangery at Warren Street Hotel, the turquoise blue in the fabric pairs beautifully with the colour of the Crittall windows.

This design lends itself well to layering, sitting comfortably in both bold and understated schemes. We love combining it with other fabrics from our collection, as shown in our Kips Bay showroom, where we upholstered the backs of the Susan chairs in Knight’s Tale and the fronts in our Bunty fabric, adding texture and contrast.

We hope this look at how we use Knight’s Tale inspires you to explore its potential. With its rich design and versatility, it is a fabric that can quietly elevate any space, large or small.
