Kit Kemp x Christopher Farr Cloth: ‘Studio on Wheels’

Day to Day

Step inside our 'Studio on Wheels' at Design Week...

During Design Week at the Design Centre, we unveiled ‘Studio on Wheels’ — a vibrant showcase of our latest fabric collection designed for Christopher Farr Cloth. Set within Simon Brown’s wonderful Victorian-inspired mobile photography studio, this unique space paid homage to the 19th-century traveling portrait studios that once roamed the British countryside. Pulled by horses, these mobile studios offered people the rare opportunity to have their portraits taken on the go — a revolutionary concept at the time. With our shared love for vintage gypsy caravans and shepherd’s huts, this nostalgic setting felt like the perfect stage to bring our new designs to life.

As you stepped into the studio, you were immersed in a vibrant world of colour and texture.

Every surface, walls, seating and drapery were covered in our latest designs, creating a bold and immersive showcase. Guests were invited to try on kimonos and hats before capturing their portraits against striking fabric backdrops. Inside our Ann Marie Tented Wardrobe, kimonos from the collection encouraged mixing colours and patterns, making the space an interactive celebration of design and creativity.

The collection breathes new life into some of our favourite fabric designs, reimagining them in fresh, vibrant colourways.

It also introduces an exciting new addition — Hideaway, a fabric that embodies our love for rich patterns and artistry. Inspired by our passion for colour, this collection plays with a dynamic blend of earthy, warm tones like terracotta and berry, beautifully contrasted with the crisp blues, greens and teals of spring, creating a perfect harmony between warmth and freshness.

Of course, our Design Team couldn’t resist joining in the fun, and now we can’t wait to see how you bring the new collection to life in your own creative projects!

We hope you enjoyed ‘Studio on Wheels’ as much as we did — a celebration of storytelling through a vibrant and interactive showcase of our latest fabrics. Collaborating with Simon Brown and Christopher Farr Cloth, our longtime partners of over 20 years, made this experience even more special, blending photography, interiors and textiles in a truly unique way.
