Each month has brought with it new adventures, fresh inspirations and a reminder of the limitless possibilities within the world of design. Join us as we take a look back at the highlights, month by month.
January – Paris Design Week
The year began with a trip to Paris for Design Week, where the city’s effortlessly chic ambiance provided the perfect backdrop to introduce fresh ideas and celebrate the artistry that thrives in this iconic city. Déco Off and Maison et Objet united the best in design, immersing us in Paris’s vibrant creative scene and filling us with inspiration. Discoveries at the antique markets sparked our creativity, offering a muse for projects yet to come.
February – Warren Street Hotel Opening
In February, we celebrated a monumental achievement with the grand opening of Warren Street Hotel in Tribeca, New York City. This new addition felt like the culmination of years of design innovation. The excitement of welcoming guests into this space, blending our favourite artists, bold colours, and timeless elegance, was matched only by the joy of seeing it come alive in the heart of Manhattan.
March – GP & J Baker Collection
April – Fine Cell Work
In April, we unveiled our ‘Dapper Dog’ collection with Fine Cell Work, a project that holds deep personal meaning for us. This collaboration brought together art, craft and social good in a powerful way. The embroidery and stitching, created by prisoners, infused the collection with profound personal significance. It has been incredible to witness how design can impact not only the interior world but also the lives of those involved.
May – Clerkenwell Design Week & Kips Bay Show House
May was a whirlwind of creativity, with two exciting pop-up showrooms. At Clerkenwell Design Week, we launched the Mythical Forest Salon, an immersive installation that captured the beauty of the natural world. Across the Atlantic, the Kips Bay Show House in New York provided a platform for new design ideas and storytelling, with visitors marveling at the intricate details and beauty of every corner.
June – Wimbledon
In June, we indulged in the tradition of Wimbledon, celebrating with whimsical afternoon teas and a touch of crafting. The lively energy throughout the hotels was infectious, reminding us of the joy that comes from embracing tradition.
July – New York Showroom
July brought the launch of the Kit Kemp x GP & J Baker showroom at New York’s Design + Decoration Centre. This space was a dream realised, bringing together our newest collection of embroideries, linens, stripes and wallpapers. It was a joyful moment of sharing our design vision and celebrating the sense of community we cherish with those who visited.
August – Fermoie Visit
In August, we had the privilege of visiting Fermoie’s design studio in the countryside. Their commitment to craftsmanship and attention to detail was awe-inspiring. The vibrant fabrics and innovative designs they create are a true celebration of colour and texture, leaving us inspired by their work.
September – Munich Table and ClockClock 24
September brought two exciting new additions to Shop Kit Kemp. We unveiled the Munich PIT-A-PAT table with Schotten & Hansen, a beautiful tribute to the endless design possibilities of wood. Additionally, we introduced the Dada Blue ClockClock 24 with Humans since 1982, a vibrant and playful yet thought-provoking timepiece that challenges our perceptions of time and design.
October – Frieze and Willow’s Art Walk
October was an art-filled month, starting with Frieze Masters in London, where the world of art came together under one tent in Regent’s Park. At our Ham Yard Lounge and Restaurant, the champagne flowed as classic brasserie dishes were served. Later in the month, we launched the Willow’s Art Walk in New York, a curated journey through Tribeca’s art scene that celebrated the powerful intersection of nature, design and artistic expression.
November – Dennis Severs House
As the weather turned colder, November took us to the captivating Dennis Severs House in London. This immersive space, with its layers of history and personal storytelling, continually reminds us of the art of design as a narrative experience—one we will always treasure.
December – Christmas Crafting
In December, we embraced the comforting tradition of Christmas crafting. Paper chains and wreath-making became the perfect way to slow down, reflect and add a touch of creativity to the festive season. There’s a special joy in working with our hands during this time of year—a reminder of how simple pleasures can enrich our lives through design and creativity.
As we close the chapter on 2024, we are filled with gratitude for the people and experiences that have shaped this year. Each month has offered something unique, from exciting collaborations to personal moments of reflection. We look forward to what the next year will bring, but for now, we are thankful for the creativity, collaboration and inspiration that have made this year unforgettable.
